Ink

OK, so I've been wanting a tattoo for a few years now, and in the last few months decided I wanted to do somethin to represent my home town of Buffalo, NY. I saw a cool postmark the other day and decided, why not fill it out with the info I want and get it done!! So I did. What do y'all think?

HyperMotard

So as everyone can tell, the spring season is just about here, meaning summertime and mountain biking/motorcycling will soon be taking over TDD. And with me being out of commission on the slopes due to my Achilles, I've been itching for some excitement. So where does one go to feel the wind in their hair and the clutch at their fingertips when they can't ACTUALLY ride? YouTube!

For those of you who HAVEN'T heard me rant about this bike (probably no one) it's what I plan on getting for my next daily driver, the Ducati HyperMotard 1100.

Here's Ruben Xaus showin off his skillz on a HyperMotard in what might be the most ICONIC Ducati picture of the 2000's

And the grand finale, a sweet trip on said Ducati, rippin up Oregon's famed Hwy 47. ENJOY!

DUCK!

So I saw this video a few years back, and couldn't find it again until NOW! Watch how lucky this guy is when he does his best Mary Lou Retton impersonation into the padded track wall. How much poo do ya think he had in his leathers when this was over??

Janie Lorber

OK, so for those of you who didn't have the pleasure of meeting Janie over the past few weeks... she is a bad-ass skier from back east (representin!) who split her time this past winter between the Austrian Alps, and Utah's own Wasatch Mountains. She also happen to have a helmet cam on her journey... this is her story!

As much as I love SnowBird, the terrain she is wreckin' at Alta makes me second guess having to deal with snowboarders! Keep shreddin' Janie, and you HAVE to come back out for spring skiing in June... you can borrow my sunscreen! Wooooo!!!

Balls Deep on Baldy... haha

So Dave Arnold... this post is for you! You need to mount your camera on a pole... or somehow strap it to your hand!
These are some EPIC first tracks on Baldy, 3.8.11... SICK!!!

Thanks to Jeremy Jensen for the footage, you killed it man!

White Gold

Surprise surprise... its the wee hours of the morning and I'm editing/uploading another ski video. What is it about video editing that so addicting??? Once I start I just can't stop till its up here on the blog! Haha

Here is a small taste of one of the MANY killer pow days we have been having this year at SnowBird. This was 3.8.11, after a 12"+ dump. Turned out to be a pretty damn good bluebird day! Jeff, Janie and I shredded Cirque and Wilber Chutes all morning, topping it off with a few beers and a couple of Baldy hikes in the afternoon. Good stuff...

Be sure to check out ALL my HD videos on my YouTube page!

Avalanche Control

So on our way down from a Baldy Run, Jeff, Janie and I came across one of the many avalanche control guns stationed around the mountain. They shoot 105mm artillery shells, starting with "tracers" to line up the shot, then ploppin' in a few incendiary rounds to actually trigger the avalanches. It's way cool to be traversing a high mountain side and ski right over top of one of the bombshells those incendiary rounds leave!

The guns are taken off old WW II battleships, and re-conditioned for use on the mountain. If no one has ever heard one of these go off, it's quite impressive. It almost seems like the concussion itself is enough to break free any loose slabs.

But it's always a good sign when your at the car gettin' geared up and you hear these resonating throughout the canyon. It usually means you're about to ski some killer pow... not to mention its a nice wake-up call when you're staying at the Cliff Lodge!

Thanks Janie for the pic!

Powderrrrriffic!

Whew... another killer day in the gnar. I got some NEW wicked sweet footage of Jeff, Janie, and I rippin' the 2' feet of dumpage we got over the last two days. As soon as I don't have to make money doing oooother things (work) I will be throwin' down on a new edit! Until then... woooo!

Oh and if anyone has a GoPro HD, I highly recommend the 720p setting at 60fps... the footage is BEYOND comparable!

Serously... who gets stopped right before they are about to get on the tram... oh wait, I guess that actually happens quite often huh? Oh well, this may be the only time I can officially say I was FIRST in the tram line! haha

Saturday, March 5, 2011

OK, so it's freakin' 5:30 AM on Saturday... and here I am uploading a video I just spent the last 6 straight hours editing. (minus the 10 mins I took to eat a bowl a cereal at like 3:30) It's the first footage from the GoPro that I got when Shane HOOKED US UP with passes at Deer Valley this week. No POW POW but it was a fantastic bluebird day!

Can you imagine the mayhem that will ensue once we get ALL 3 cameras on the mtn! Enjoy!

OH PS - Be sure to change it to 720p when you play it for a little HD action... I didn't drop the $$$ on the camera for standard def!

First Video!

Once upon a time Shane and Dave were tearin' up some killer tree lines at Deer Valley. One day, they tried to ski the same line at the same time, and someone almost got seriously jacked up. The End.
